Job summary
As a consultant in intensive care, you will contribute to the provision of critical care and ECMO services at Royal Papworth Hospital.
You will contribute to the training of medical students, all grade specialist trainees and other health professionals, as well as participating in clinical audit, quality improvement and academic activities.
As a member of the Consultant team, you will work alongside other team members to support the critical care unit and ECMO service out-of-hours rotas on a rotational basis.
Successful applicants will be employed full-time at Royal Papworth Hospital.
Candidates accredited in other specialities and suitable for the post on offer, are encouraged to discuss working a proportion of their job plan in a different speciality than intensive care (e.g. theatre lists in anaesthesia, clinics or interventional procedures in respiratory medicine or cardiology, etc...).
Main duties of the job
*Shared responsibility with other colleagues for critical care service provision.
*Participation in the critical care and ECMO on-call duties, up to 1:6, with prospective cover.
*Teaching, training and clinical supervision of trainees and other health professionals.
*Participation in the research, audit and quality improvement activities of the hospital.
*Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients and compliance with clinical governance initiatives.
