Job summary

To work closely with investigators and research staff to support the HLRI Clinical Research Facility.

This role has significant administrative responsibilities to support the HLRI CRF and technical responsibilities to assist the coordination/ management of the sample processing rooms and clinical research studies with sample processing.

To assist in developing, supporting, and promoting research involvement in clinical research for the HLRI Clinical Research Facility (HLRI CRF) based at Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (RPH).

To ensure that the research conducted at the HLRI CRF and RPH is performed within the regulatory guidelines, including ICH Good Clinical Practice, and within the specifications outlined in trial protocols.

Main duties of the job

Responsible of receiving, labelling, and processing samples, resolving issues such as mislabelled or missing specimens, performing pre-analytical processes, maintaining study data documentation.

Performance of scheduled internal audits, performing quality control checks on routine equipment, contributing to COSHH procedures and risk assessments, dealing with enquiries, and preparing laboratory work schedules.

Liaise with Sponsors, Clinicians, research team and ward staff regarding the collection of data and clinical samples for approved research projects.

Responsible for updating and maintaining accurate logs for samples.

Assist in the maintenance of information on various research study databases.

Observe and adhere to all legislation pertaining to the Human Tissue Act.

Assist with the maintenance of standard operating procedures and quality management systems.

Observe confidentiality of patient, commercial and intellectual information.

Liaise on a regular basis with relevant staff within Papworth and external organizations.

Assist with transfer of samples to researchers and external sites, including long term storage facilities.

Act responsibly as a team member and seek advice/assistance where necessary.

Treat all patient information with complete confidentiality.

The post holder will also represent the CRF laboratory at pre-study visits and site initiation visits.

To work flexibly in the team within your own level of competency.
