Job summary

We are looking for a friendly and creative individual to join our dynamic occupational therapy department as an occupational therapy assistant to work on the bank. You will have excellent communication skills and be to use your initiative when working within a team.

You will gain experience treating a range of patients with cardio-respiratory conditions, including before and after surgery, as well as patients with long term respiratory conditions within a range of clinical settings. You will complete a competency whilst working under the supervision of registered therapists, until you are able to undertake delegated tasks independently. You will help us drive forward our ambitious vision for the department; to set a precedent for other cardiothoracic hospitals by bringing tomorrows treatments to todays patients.

Candidates should have:

Numeracy and literacy to national Level 2/GCSE standard including written/spoken English and basic mathematics

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in healthcare or associated area

Main duties of the job

Become part of our supportive and innovative team covering inpatient services, including bank holiday and Saturday working.

Clinical areas you will work across:

- Transplant and cardiac surgery

- Thoracic and pulmonary endarterectomy surgery

- Respiratory support and sleep centre (RSSC), respiratory medicine and cystic fibrosis.

- Cardiology

- Critical care
