Main duties of the job

We have established this new post in our senior workforce team to help us drive forward our workforce ambitions and the successful postholder will be a confident, skilful and experienced HR generalist able to provide leadership and management to our core business teams providing recruitment, business partnering, employment advice, staff health and wellbeing, employee relations, engagement and medical staffing. We are looking for someone who will enjoy both focusing on the operational detail needed to deliver efficient high-quality services whilst simultaneously seeking to exploit technological innovations that improve the services we offer to our managers and staff.

Our new Assistant Director will be an outstanding leader who, as well as being a strong operational generalist, will take a lead role in helping us develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies that will enable us to grow a rich pipeline of recruits drawn from a broad and diverse local, national and international population of talent and bring them into roles that offer them the opportunity to build interesting, challenging and above all, rewarding careers.

About us

Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the UK's leading heart and lung hospital, delivering care to more than 50,000 patients a year in its new state-of-the-art hospital in Cambridge.

We perform the most heart and/or lung transplants in the UK and carried out the UK's first successful heart transplant in 1979. It also offers emergency heart attack treatment, sleep centre care and is one of just five centres nationally for those in severe respiratory failure. Based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus the largest centre of medical research and health science in Europe the Trust is at the heart of treatments of the future.

Royal Papworth became the first hospital trust in the country to be rated outstanding in all five areas assessed by the Care Quality Commission - a rating it still holds today.
