Job summary

We have recently expanded our dietetic service. This means we have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 dietitian to join our experienced and friendly team of dietitians, dietetic assistant and dietetic practitioner. This role offers the opportunity to work within the specialist areas of cardiac and thoracic surgery, cardiology and long-term respiratory medicine.

We have an established student training programme in which you will be involved and there are opportunities to contribute to audits, service development and publication of articles and abstracts to build your CPD portfolio.

This role is full time 37.5 hours per week for a fixed term of 2 years. Please note that student dietitians approaching the end of their training are welcome to apply and we can start pre registration candidates as Band 4 until HCPC registration is secured.

Main duties of the job

You will provide a comprehensive dietetic service to the surgical and medical wards at Royal Papworth Hospital Trust as part of the Nutrition and Dietetic team.

The successful applicant will be responsible for a selection of wards that includes cardiac and thoracic surgical wards, cardiology wards, respiratory wards and outpatients and day-case settings providing prehab and rehab nutrition support to patients. There is experienced support available for you to learn specialist dietetic skills in clinical areas such as heart and lung transplant, the management of rare conditions such as chylothorax and ataxia telangiectasia, cystic fibrosis and complex tube feeding.

You will develop and take part in staff and patient teaching, support band 3/4 dietetic assistants in terms of senior advice and be involved in the training of student dietitians.

There is the opportunity for the successful applicant to attend relevant study days and conferences and take part in audit and research projects.
