Job summary
You will be a key and dynamic member
of the Cardiac Physiology Team, managing the procurement and storage of all
materials related to the Cardiac Physiology Service.
You
will be managing and training staff, covering stock replenishment for a wide
range of several thousand medical consumables, procedure packs and
disposables. The stock covered includes everything from routine items such as
gloves and gowns to highly specialist procedure-critical and life-saving items.
You
will be expected to use extensive specialist knowledge and expertise of
cardiology materials and equipment, bespoke procurement and stock management
software such as NHSSC and EDC Gold, leadership and line management skills,
as well as advanced communication and negotiation skills in this post.
Most
activities will be non-routine, such as unexpected problem solving and
unpredictable troubleshooting on a daily basis, as well as team supervision
and training. This intermediate
level theoretical knowledge is normally acquired through formal training or
equivalent experience.
Main duties of the job
The main
duties of the job will cover 3 areas: strategic planning of procurement
processes, line management and training of a team of staff, daily supervision
and unexpected problem solving of stock challenges.
Strategic planning
skills will include collaborating with budget holders on planning of
large-scale procurement projects, including tenders, service contracts, supply
processes and consignment agreements.
You will manage a
team of staff and be independently responsible for daily supervision of this
team. They will need to be able to prioritise and respond to unexpected
changing needs and challenges of the service. You will need to be able to negotiate
and communicate with a wide variety of people, including doctors, nurses,
scientists, and other professionals, as well as company technical support, to
be able to find alternative products.
Ideally, you should
have a considerable specialist knowledge of Cardiology products and sub
specialisms as well as bespoke ordering systems used in the NHS, such as EDC
Gold.

- Qualifications in procurement, logistics or stock management at apprenticeship L6, NVQ L4, HNC, foundation degree or equivalent experience gained is required for this post.
Experience

- The post holder should have experience of working in procurement, logistics or stock management.
- Experience of using stock management systems, PDAs or software, such as NHS SC and producing usage and financial/transactional reports is essential.
