The Healthcare Support Worker role is a great starting point to begin a lifelong career in Healthcare or an excellent opportunity to gain new skills and experience.

One of the most amazing aspects of this role is you will meet people from all walks of life. The healthcare support worker role is a key role in the healthcare team. You can make such a positive impact and difference on a patient and the care they receive. We know the work we do is rewarding but tough. We have an extensive support system in place for staff support who can offer 24 hour support and guidance to help you look after yourself whilst caring for others.

Main duties of the job

When you start we’ll give you the training you need to feel safe and supported in the role. We’ll support you achieving the care certificate which is a universal qualification, recognised across the health sector. We’ll give you training in your specialist area so you are able to grow and develop your career with us at Royal Papworth. We’re passionate about education and investing in our staff.

Examples of what you may do as part of the role are:

Washing and dressing patients

Serving Meals and feeding patients

Helping patients to move around

Making beds

Communicating to patients and their families

Taking patients observations

Assisting with clinical tasks eg taking blood sugar recordings

Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the UKs leading heart and lung hospital, delivering care to more than 50,000 patients a year in its new state-of-the-art hospital in Cambridge.
