Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Cardiology management team in Catheter Labs and Bronchoscopy.

Cath Labs and Bronchoscopy has 6 Cath Labs, 2 Bronchoscopy suites and a recovery area. Within Cath labs you will be expected to scrub and circulate for both elective and acutely unwell patients undergoing procedures in the department. Procedures include Angiogram, Angioplasty, patients presenting with acute Myocardial Infarction via our emergency Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention PPCI pathway. EP studies and treatment of arrythmia with ablation. Implantation of pacemaker and ICD devices. Structural procedures including closure of PFO, ASD also valve implantation TAVI.

Bronchoscopy involves assisting during and monitoring patients during their procedure. You will also rotate to our recovery area, looking after patient who have had a general anaesthetic, Bronchoscopy procedure or require post procedure recovery care before going back to the ward.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to deputise in the absence of the department sister and will oversee the day-to-day management of the nursing team providing clear leadership by acting as an expert practitioner and role model assisting junior colleagues to develop advanced knowledge and skills to benefit the treatment and care of critically ill patients in our hospital.

To manage the nursing team and provide a safe, effective level of patient care to patients coming to have procedures in Cath Labs and Bronchoscopy.

The role includes responsibility for systems which ensure the implementation, maintenance and monitoring of quality standards, the delivery of supervision and appraisal and the management of clinical rosters in line with our performance goals.
