Job summary
Answering to the area Head of Operations, as Quality, Governance and Assurance Manager (QGAM) you will be responsible for providing senior leadership for clinical governance and patient safety within the area, delivering a clinically safe and effective environment, nurturing a culture of openness which supports individuals to deliver a high-quality service for patients in Yorkshire and Humber.
You will ensure staff within your team are fully engaged, supported, and developed to their full potential and bring clinical experience, expertise and leadership on all aspects of patient safety within your area.
The post holder will provide support to the senior area management team to ensure national performance standards and local key performance indicators are achieved. The post holder will take a lead role in developing and delivering Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF). The post holder will ensure all lessons learned from patient safety events are widely shared and disseminated in order to directly improve patient safety and patient experience.
Main duties of the job
- Be a visible leader and role model, demonstrating effective and appropriate behaviours in day-to-day operations; being flexible by adapting communication to match the situation and audience
- Be the Area Lead for assurance on all medicines management working closely with the Chief Pharmacist and Medicines Logistics Managers
- Lead a programme of Structured Judgement Reviews into patient safety events including mortality, safeguarding and complaints
- Produce reports and presentations from the triangulation of thematic analysis of patient safety events to influence and work within management teams, delivering solutions and new operational practices to improve clinical care
- Be the Area Lead for the learning from deaths programme, to provide high quality learning from deaths and build a robust structure for mortality reviews
- Be involved in the review of coronial cases and attend Coroner's court when required
- Lead on serious patient safety events, complaints, incident reporting and lessons learned using a variety of data to benchmark, evaluate and demonstrate continuous improvement
- Lead on the development of a learning organisation by embedding and promoting a culture of learning from experience
