Job summary

Due to the creation of a new role in our Trust operating model, we invite applications for an Associate Director of Quality Improvement (QI). This post is key to the delivery of our five-year strategy.

The role of Associate Director of QI is central to our value of 'Improvement' and how we will deliver our QI plan. This is a key leadership role, and you will be required to consolidate your expert knowledge and experience to shape and implement Trust wide QI plans.

Main duties of the job

You will be a member of the Quality & Professional Standards Directorate providing leadership both within the QI team and as a senior leader across the organisation. You will support the Executive Director of Quality/Chief Paramedic to provide leadership to build on the foundation laid by the initial phase of Trust QI vision, in order to embed QI from the Board to the front line to ensure that the Trust ethos and approach to QI is at the heart of day-to-day practice and underpins continuous improvement in the Trust.

The post holder will also play a key role in working with NHS England and system partners, supporting QI across ICB systems. The postholder will be a role model for transparent decision making and public accountability and will support matrix working across Trust portfolios and will play a key role in supporting implementation of the Trust values and the future way of working embodied in 'YAS Together'.

You will be educated to PhD or master's level in a relevant subject and able to demonstrate an equivalent level of industry experience. Whilst a formal post-graduate qualification in QI, or continuous improvement, would be desirable, your practical experience of leading QI in a healthcare or other environment is more important. You will also be able to demonstrate expert subject matter knowledge in relation to QI, with detailed insight into international approaches and evidence, e.g. Virginia Mason, IHI, NHSE or other similar.
