Job summary

Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) NHS Trust has an ambition to increase the role volunteers can play in supporting our services and in supporting people in our communities to stay healthy and access the right services when they need them.

The Volunteer Development Manager will be responsible for delivering a number of projects that broaden the role of our existing volunteers and for identifying and developing new volunteer schemes that support the Trust's objectives.

Main duties of the job

  • Act as the subject matter expert on volunteering for the Trust, providing advice and guidance to senior colleagues on the most appropriate way to develop volunteering programmes.
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan to expand volunteer roles across the Trust, maximising the contribution of volunteers and embedding volunteer programmes across the organisation.
  • Develop policies and procedures to support the recruitment, training and management of volunteers.
  • Provide expert advice and support to develop new volunteer roles and schemes across the Trust.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation of volunteer schemes, regularly reporting on progress.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to maximise opportunities for volunteers to contribute to the Trust's objectives and to contribute to work in the wider health and care system and with our emergency service partners.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with our communities and with the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) Sector to proactively recruit volunteers.
  • Establish and coordinate a programme of engagement with volunteers to enhance their experience with the Trust.
