Job summary

The Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS)/ Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) Partnership is a unique partnership between the Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance jointly providing Helicopter Emergency Medical Services to the population of Yorkshire and beyond.

The YAA Medical Director will be funded by the YAA and hosted by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service Trust with professional accountability to the YAS Medical Director.

Main duties of the job

They will be a senior clinical leader within the Yorkshire Air Ambulance developing and leading a clinical structure within the teams. The YAA Medical Director will be accountable for patient safety and clinical quality provided by the HEMS teams and leading the strategy for innovation and development.

The YAA Medical Director will work across YAA and YAS directorates in a matrix system, and externally with key partners to contribute and influence the clinical and operational strategy, develop workforce models and ensure excellent patient outcomes. The post holder will be a subject expert in pre-hospital critical and enhanced care, acting as a strategic advisor and supporting advancing clinical practice. The role will include clinical shifts to be arranged as additional duties.
