As an Ambulance Care Assistant working within the A&E team, you will be working in support of front-line clinicians on an ambulance, you will be a key part of our emergency service providing support to the low acuity and urgent level patients. We work 24/7, 365 days a year, which means you will need to work flexibly, up to 12 hours at a time, including nights, weekends and bank holidays.

The role of ACA (A&E) can provide an excellent opportunity to further develop a career in healthcare and within Yorkshire Ambulance Service, with opportunities to progress through our apprenticeship programme to working on the network of emergency ambulance as an Ambulance Support Worker.

This vacancy is for stations across West Yorkshire only.

Main duties of the job

This is a stimulating and challenging role, but it is not for everyone. We need people that are confident, caring, compassionate and hard-working; you will be as passionate as we are about making a positive difference to the people of Yorkshire.

You will work in conjunction with another non-clinically qualified staff member, providing urgent care and safe transport to patients whose condition has been assessed by a clinician as being suitable for low acuity transport. No two shifts will be the same; you might respond to a patient referred to an acute care setting by the GP or be required to transfer a sick patient from one healthcare facility to another.

As an A&E Ambulance Care Assistant, you will be a highly visible role model, not only in respect of what you do, but also in the way you conduct yourself with our patients, the public and colleagues.
