Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Clinical Navigator in the EOC (Emergency Operations Centre). You will act as the lead clinician providing clinical oversight to all incidents within a designated geographical area.

As a Clinical Navigator you will ensure the safety of the waiting patients by providing targeted advice whilst an ambulance response is on route or providing welfare checks where prolonged responses may occur. You will also provide clinical support to colleagues in EOC and in operations.

This role is offered as a full-time permanent role, with consideration to secondments or to work it as a rotational role with operations.

Course start dates are from July 2023 onwards.

Main duties of the job

You will be focused on managing clinical demand within your area, working within agreed policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as well as following guidelines and utilising decision-support tools where necessary.

You will support the dispatch team to ensure that resourcing of incidents balances the needs of individual patients with the need to ensure an effective response across the geographical area; this may at times require sound clinical decision-making to prioritise the use of resources at times of high demand managing risk in a way that maximises safety.

As a Clinical Navigator, you will be a source of advice on best practice and will support decision making for colleagues both within EOC and operationally in frontline practice. The ability to support such a wide range of operational colleagues through difficult decisions will be central to the role. The post holder will recognise each interaction via the crew advice line is an opportunity for learning and will approach their duties with clinical supervision and learning at the forefront of their mind.
