Liaison Mental Health Nurse/Occupational Therapist

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mental Health Nurse or Occupational Therapist to develop knowledge and expertise within a specialist service, working with individuals who present with complex physical and psychological difficulties.

The team and wider department are well established and include a broad range of clinical expertise across Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy. The service is currently launching the TRACCS pathway in collaboration with the National Inpatient Centre for Psychological Medicine (NICPM). This includes a community-based model of care offering a combination of home visits, clinic-based appointments and virtual working, alongside established outpatient provision, and provides an excellent opportunity to build upon experience in pathway and service development.

We are looking for highly motivated clinicians to join our therapy team on a permanent basis. The post currently equates to 1.6 WTE, and we are therefore able to offer more than one post. Full-time and part-time working arrangements can be negotiated to support service need and individual preferences for the successful candidates.

Main duties of the job

You will work with a high degree of autonomy, assessing and delivering a range of psychosocial and psychological interventions for individuals referred with Persistent Physical Symptoms and/or Long-Term Conditions. The service has strong links with Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust and Primary Care, and you will be supported to develop and maintain effective interfaces with relevant partner services.

There is a strong emphasis on personal and professional development, with the team actively supporting individual development plans. You will also have opportunities to contribute to ongoing service development and pathway redesign as the TRACCS model continues to expand.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual wishing to further develop skills in psychosocial interventions and therapeutic approaches. Experience in Liaison Psychiatry is desirable but not essential, as training and supervision will be provided for the right candidate.
