Job summary

Ward 2 Women's Newsam Centre, within the Leeds Forensic Inpatient Service, is recruiting a Charge Nurse.

As a Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for ensuring the day to day running of the Women's ward, and the care provided, is safe, effective and of a high standard. We are looking for someone who has the passion and enthusiasm to truly make a difference to the care of women in a secure setting. We are also looking for someone who understands, and role models a multi-disciplinary and inclusive approach to care delivery, where compassionate and collective leadership is central. This is genuinely an exciting time for Forensic Services, especially within Ward 2 Women's who are a vital part of the upcoming developments aligned with the National Women's Secure Pathway Transformation Programme are starting to progress. This role provides you with the opportunity to help shape the future of low secure women's services in Leeds.

Main duties of the job

The Leeds Forensic Inpatient Service consists of 3 wards at the Newsam Centre which provide care for people experiencing acute mental health issues.As a Charge Nurse, you will be expected to work with patients, carers and the Multi- Disciplinary Team to provide care to people with mental health needs.The successful candidate will be positive and enthusiastic in your approach, calm and confident when dealing with the needs of the service users. You will have excellent communication skills, and will show that you have the ability to form and sustain therapeutic relationships with people with mental health needs.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in mental health and be committed to involving service users in all aspects of their care. The role requires the candidate to support the care, assessment, interventions and activities for service users.
