Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the psychological services within the acute and urgent care mental health pathway in Leeds. The acute and urgent care pathway includes the six inpatient wards and 3 CRISS locality teams with a range of dedicated psychological professionals embedded into different service areas. Psychological services are currently expanding and we are looking for an inspirational leader to continue the progress already made. The psychological workforce works closely with the operational and clinical leaders across all the professional groups and are valued members of the MDTs. The clinical model ensures the use of formulation to inform care and teams are working to enhance person centred, trauma informed care and to meet the diverse needs of the people receiving treatment. The wards are working towards the NHSE 12 Core Commitments and associated standards to improve the culture of inpatient care.
As a senior leader you will play a key role in both the governance of psychological interventions and leading on service developments. You will be responsible for line managing the psychological staff and delegating as appropriate. The workforce includes qualified staff and assistants.
Main duties of the job
The psychological workforce is supported by a part time Deputy of Psychological Professions and one of the part time Professional Leads. The group of Consultant Psychological Professionals working in the Trust meet monthly to share ideas, governance and contribute to the Trust business. The strategy for Psychological Professions is currently being updated after achieving our goals in the previous strategy with diversity, innovation and growth at the heart of the new strategy.
We have strong links with the doctorate course in Leeds and welcome a range of placements and learners.
The Psychological Professional Consultant role has key responsibilities to oversee governance and continue the development of psychological skills across the pathway and by different professional groups. There is opportunity to work with Trust wide systems and bring about change to improve services. The work will involve leading and developing in house training and embedding psychological models of care. The inpatient services are using the 12 Core commitments and the urgent care service works within the core fidelity framework.
