Clinical/Counselling/Forensic Psychologist/registered CBT Therapist/Psychotherapist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time psychologist/ psychological therapist to work with the Addictions Plus team in Forward Leeds. We support people in Leeds who experience difficulties with mental health and problematic substance use. You will be joining an enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team which delivers a variety of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprogramming (EMDR) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Applications from people with a training or an interest in DBT will be particularly welcomed, as we are hoping to further expand our provision in this area. Training in DBT can be made available for suitable candidates.

Forward Leeds is a CQC-rated Outstanding Partnership Organization. You will be supported by a principal and a consultant clinical psychologist. You will have access to regular supervision and excellent opportunities for CPD.

We will consider applications from trainee Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologists qualifying in 2024, or CBT therapists who have applied and are awaiting their Practitioner Accreditation status with BABCP. We regret to say that this post is not open to creative therapists.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide specialist psychological therapeutic input into Addiction Plus services
  • To work autonomously and make appropriate clinical decisions.
  • To provide high quality psychological assessment, formulation and therapy across the range/ severity of clinical presentations.
  • To work in hubs across the city of Leeds
  • To contribute to multi-discplinary team working, working alongside colleagues across the partnership.
  • To offer advice on service user's psychological care to colleagues and other relevant agencies, working within professional guidelines
  • To provide a key role in psychological aspects of service development in service areas of primary responsibility.
  • The post holder will communicate with numerous internal and external individuals, teams and services. The type of communication will include highly sensitive, confidential, complex and technical information.

  5. Experience of specialist psychological assessment, formulation and delivery of evidence based psychological interventions across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, and inpatient settings
  6. Experience of working with a wide variety of SU groups across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severit
  7. Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behavior.
