Job summary

We have exciting opportunities for nurses to join our low secure mental health services, here at Clifton House in York. Working with patients in either assessment and treatment or rehabilitation, we would welcome your skills and experience as part of our multidisciplinary team, where staff wellbeing is a valued priority. You will have excellent communication skills, be self-assured, emotionally resilient and adaptable to patient needs. Maintaining clear boundaries and consistencies within the team, you will work closely with and be guided by the wider MDT.

You will be offered support and supervision in order to ensure safe and effective nursing practice and will gain an understanding of the Mental Health Act and the criminal justice system. You will be closely involved in developing recovery care pathways for patients alongside their families and carers and will empower them at all stages of care and treatment.

Main duties of the job

You will work as a staff nurse on a low secure forensic hospital ward, providing quality mental health nursing care to service users with severe and enduring mental health conditions.You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing assessment and treatment and rehabilitative support including nursing and therapeutic interventions.You will undertake the role of primary nurse and be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for a designated group of service users.You will understand and work within the framework of the Mental Health Act, and employ robust risk assessment and risk management skills.
