Job description

Job responsibilities

It is not essential that you have experience of working with this client group. An induction training package and ongoing support will be offered. We are keen to hear from candidates who have a genuine interest in working with individuals with eating disorders and associated complex needs.

The service is committed to individuals own personal CPD and you will be supported through the Trusts supervision and appraisal systems.

If you are looking for a new challenge, feel passionate about supporting patients and their families on a journey of recovery, keen to learn new skills and share new experiences then this role is for you. If you would like more information, please contact us.

As an employer we host the Nursing Associate apprenticeship role which sits alongside our existing nursing care support workers and registered nurses to deliver hands-on care for service users. As well as alongside Allied Health Professional and medical colleagues too. Whilst a role in its own right within the field of nursing, once qualified, nursing associate role is also a gateway to becoming a registered Nurse via an additional apprenticeship route.

The Transfer to Nursing programme is a full-time apprenticeship and you must be prepared to be contracted to work 37.5 hours per week. We welcome applications for those who already work bank shifts within our organisation but who must be willing to move onto contracted hours of 30 37.5 hours a week in a permanent role.

The programme is structured so that you will experience a wide variety of clinical placements across the breadth of health and social care sectors in different organisations with the aim of giving you the widest exposure to healthcare. Throughout the 2-year programme there is 18 weeks of spoke placements you will be required to do in other service areas. As well as have assessed practice based learning in your hub team.

The course comprises of academic learning, practice placements and learning at work. You will be expected to attend study days or block weeks (dependant on which University you are allocated to study at) and undertake Protected Learning Time in the team which you will be based in. This ensures you meet the 2300 total learning hours required to complete the Undergraduate Degree at level 6. On successful completion of the programme you will register with the Nursing Midwifery Council.

Whilst completing your apprenticeship programme you will be a band 4 Trainee Registered Mental Health Nurse. You will be expected to fulfil the full role and responsibilities by the end of the training period, and a development plan will be put in place by your line manager confirming the competencies they expect you to develop during that time. On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will progress to band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse.

Main duties of the role include shift coordination, medication management, nasogastric (NG) feeding, physical health monitoring, risk management, care planning, one to one and group work, CPA process and Mental Health Act use.

It is Trust policy that if an existing employee chooses to apply for an apprenticeship vacancy i.e. a brand-new role, they will be paid at the apprentice wage / rate, regardless of their previous salary or banding. Requests for variation from this would be considered by the Trusts Vacancy Management Panel where the outcome may be to approve or decline the request.
