Job summary

Want to be part of a close-knit Assertive Outreach service, work therapeutically with people with severe & enduring mental health difficulties in the community & ward setting, & work psychologically with staff in order to help provide the best possible psychologically-informed care for this mostly overlooked client group?

We are looking for a professional with an interest in serious mental health difficulties, willingness to engage with human suffering & interest in understanding human mind in its various complexities and how professionals may work with this, to join the Leeds Assertive Outreach service in a Band 7 to Band 8a development post. You will be working as part of a developing & supportive psychology team, in which personal development is highly valued and supported. You will be based in the Assertive Outreach service. In addition to working indirectly with staff the role involves working therapeutically with AOT service users in the community as well as providing psychological in-reach into the High Intensity rehabilitation ward, Ward 5 Newsam Centre.

This role offers the opportunity to join us in a development post which will offer you a clear pathway to achieving the experience, skills & knowledge required to secure the higher end role/pay band within the team once the agreed competencies have been met. You will be provided with a supportive learning environment for a defined period, which is designed to help you meet the requirements of the higher end role.

Main duties of the job

An interest and skills in offering therapeutic interventions and in supporting professional colleagues to develop and use psychological thinking in their work with service users presenting with complex mental health difficulties will be a key part of this role. Clinical supervision is important as the role involves provision of supervision to psychologists in training and other professionals within the service.

The Leeds Assertive Outreach service is a well-established, city-wide specialist service consisting of MDT professionals who value and welcome psychologically informed approaches.
