Job summary

The role of the Nursing Associate is to work collaboratively within a multi professional team alongside registered nurses, medical professionals, allied health professionals, associate practitioners, and healthcare support workers.

Nursing associates are equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, and attitudes relevant to work within the nationally recognised Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Conduct and must meet the NMC standards of proficiency.

Main duties of the job

Nursing Associates have a breadth of knowledge and help to bridge the gap between health care assistants and registered nurses working within all aspects of the clinical process.

They provide effective evidence-based care for service users working independently under the leadership of registered nurses, in line with clinical governance and professional standards.

The Nursing associate within this role will focus on supporting the delivery of the infection prevention programme across LYPFT.

Whilst the post holder is based predominantly on one site there is an expectation that they will also adopt agile/hybrid to support optimal delivery of the teams' objectives. There will also be the expectation to travel and work across sites as required by the needs of the service.

The post holder will be expected to support the Infection Prevention and Control Team across a variety of different workstreams. This will include:

  • Environmental audits
  • Staff and service user vaccination programmes
  • IPC advisory role
  • Staff fit testing for masks
  • Promotional IPC events (both internal and external)
  • Ad-hoc IPC supportive ward visits
  • Research support and data collection

Currently the post is Monday to Friday (5-days per week).

You must hold a current full driving license (valid for use in the UK). Access to a car on Appointment. Able to travel across the county to locations not served by public transport
