Job summary

We have a rare opportunity for a Specialist Dietitian at our CAMHS inpatient unit in York.

This is a full-time dietetic post. The successful candidate will be part of the dietetic provision within the CAMHS service line at Mill Lodge, whilst also being involved in the development of an exciting new day service for young people requiring support with eating disorders and disordered eating. The role will involve cover across both elements of the service, providing a rich and rounded experience of CAMHS.

We welcome applications from band 5 dietitians who are looking to develop their skills and progress into a band 6 position. In this circumstance the successful candidate will be supported via a bespoke developmental plan and will receive input to develop their competencies and confidence. Other specific areas for development will be negotiated. Progress towards re-banding to band 6 level will be regularly reviewed and discussed.

There are excellent transport links to York (Leeds 40mins, London 2 hours) and we also have a generous relocation package.

Main duties of the job

The specialist dietitian will:

  • Provide assessment and treatment plans for young people referred into Mill Lodge and the Mill Lodge day service
  • Develop and implement meal plans and provide advice to young people and parents/carers around a variety of dietetic needs and a range of mental health conditions, particularly eating disorders/disordered eating
  • Undertake complex dietetic assessments and develop dietary intervention plans e.g. formulating enteral feeding regimes for service users at risk of re-feeding syndrome
  • Be an active member of the multidisciplinary team, participate in training, development and supervision of team members where appropriate

The successful applicant will benefit from:

  • Peer support, sharing of best practice and CPD opportunities provided by membership of the trusts CAMHS dietetic team (across Leeds & York) and trustwide dietetic forum. As well as local multidisciplinary professional networks
  • Opportunity to be heavily involved in the development of a new day service opening in 2024, which will support young people with eating disorders and disordered eating
  • Strong support for research and a close connection with COMIC (Child Oriented Mental Health Innovation Collaborative) based at York Universit

Our friendly and supportive MDT includes occupational therapists, family therapist, psychology, psychiatrists, mental health nurses and teachers. Our work can be challenging, but we find it immensely rewarding; we have the opportunity to change lives for the better at a pivotal age.
