Job summary

The Yorkshire Centre for Eating Disorders (Ward 6 Newsam Centre) is seeking to recruit a band 6 occupational therapist to join our inpatient team. The service operates as part of the wider CONNECT service.

The ward is a 14 bedded ward offering treatment to patients who are resident in the Leeds, Wakefield, Kirklees, Calderdale and Bradford areas. The service offers inpatient assessment and treatment for patients with an eating disorder.

The ward works closely with the CONNECT community team to provide seamless care during transitions in and out or the inpatient ward. Our aims are to manage significant physical risk and to manage this effectively. We offer a variety of evidence based psychological therapies and practical interventions. This will be in the form of individual sessions and group work.

Our care is person centred and care planning is individualised to meet patient need. You will be responsible for a caseload of patients and following their journey. This will be recovery focused for the time that they are in treatment on the ward.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to offer clinical supervision to junior members of the team and support the allied health professional assistant to manage their time and role between yourself and the dietitian. You will also be undertaking mentoring and assessing of students.

The post offers you an opportunity to provide specific OT assessments and plan interventions which will extend to activities in the community in collaboration with the wider MDT.

The service is committed to individuals own personal CPD and you will be supported through the Trusts supervision and appraisal systems.

Specific training will be provided were necessary.
