Job summary
The National Inpatient Centre for Psychological Medicine (NICPM) is looking for qualified mental health nurses.
This is an opportunity to work in a rehabilitation setting, delivering care for people access the UK who have severe and complex chronic conditions including; ME/CFS, Functional Neurological Disorders, somatoform conditions and medically unexplained symptoms.
Our aim is to support people to make significant and sustained improvements in their overall health and wellbeing, and the clinical outcomes are evidence of effective practice.
The successful applicant will work within a supportive MDT setting which provides a variety of evidence based psychological therapies and interventions. This is in the form of individual sessions and group work all offered and led by members across the MDT.
This is a great opportunity to learn and develop existing skills in a predominantly non-pharmacological setting. You will feel supported to develop your role through our in-house teaching, regular team reflection and commitment to both clinical and management supervision.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant/s will:
Undertake biopsychosocial assessments and contribute to the planning of care for patients in a multidisciplinary framework.
Participate in and coordinate the delivery of quality mental health and physical nursing care. This will involve the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for people who have complex needs requiring involvement from a range of professionals in the team, or where specific emotional, social or symptom management issues need to be addressed.
Assess the level of risk to patients and others using appropriate standardised tools.
As the shift coordinator, liaise with colleagues in the MDT regarding admissions and discharges of patients.
Demonstrate sound clinical skills and ability to make decisions, promoting the involvement of patients.
Effectively manage own time and workload with ability to delegate appropriately and prioritise accordingly.
Manage the clinical area, ensuring at all times that health and safety standards are met.

Facilitate and co-facilitate therapeutic groups.
Maintain and contribute to a safe and therapeutic working environment.
