Who are we looking for?

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Pharmacists already considering, and committed to, their career progression.

If this is you, LYPFT is offering a 2-year accelerated development opportunity to progress from Band 6 to Band 7.

We are offering guaranteed progression from a Band 6 to Band 7 subject to satisfactory completion of our Competency Framework which is based on The Royal Pharmaceutical Society Foundation Pharmacist Framework, and LYPFT Clinical Pharmacist Programme. Progression from band 6 to band 7 is expected to take 2 years, however this timescale may be reduced depending on previous experience and/or learning. We will work with you to support you to develop a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate achievement of work-based competencies within the workplace. You will also have the opportunity to meet some of your objectives by completing further postgraduate training with the potential to complete a Clinical Diploma and/or Certificate in Psychiatry.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will possess good interpersonal and communication skills, be able to understand and interpret complex clinical information and communicate it to service users, carers, and other health professionals. There is a requirement to have up-to-date clinical knowledge and experience and be able to apply this to improve quality of care and be able to work effectively in busy environments both independently and within a team.

Applications are encouraged from GPhC registered pharmacists working in any area in pharmacy, as there will be opportunities for thedevelopment of clinical skills as well as the opportunity to undertake further clinical training. Further career development job opportunities will be coming out in the New Year for Trainee pharmacists registering in summer 2024.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to;

    • Review medicines and provide medicines optimisation within multidisciplinary meetings
    • Provide clinical advice and support to secondary and primary care regarding psychiatric medication
    • Review complex cases and make treatment suggestions
    • Provide training to nursing, medical and pharmacy colleague

The post is full time and includes occasional on-call and weekend working; flexible working and job share requests will be considered.
