Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of a Specialist Addictions Nurse (substance misuse) to work within the Community Alcohol Team (LYPFT) at Forward Leeds, a CQC rated OUTSTANDING integrated drug and alcohol service in Leeds service (2022).

The post is based primarily in locality clinics within GP practices and health centres around Leeds and aims to increase the availability and accessibility of pharmacological and psychosocial interventions to people that have dependency on alcohol and other co-morbidities; and require timely, safe and effective access to medicines.

This post will sit within the existing Community Alcohol Team at Forward Leeds, as part of the Specialist Addictions Service.

Main duties of the job

The CCG team is made up of NMP's and a support worker. The wider Specialist service is made up of NMP's, medics, nurses, psychologist, addiction therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and midwives, all of which work collaboratively to ensure the best treatment and outcomes for service users. The job role will include providing specialist addiction treatment, including psychosocial and pharmacological interventions, harm reduction, & risk management to service users who are experiencing difficulties with their alcohol use. The LYPFT team is trauma-informed and offers a formulation driven, psychological model.

The applicant would ideally have an NMP qualification, however although this is desirable it is not essential as the successful candidate will be supported to complete this qualification if required.

The role also requires experience of case load management, a knowledge of working with addiction problems, and ideally will have knowledge and experience of delivering specialist addictions psychosocial interventions
