Specialist Deaf Outreach Worker (SDOW)

Job summary

We are looking to employ a Specialist Deaf Outreach Worker who has deaf lived experience as well as having a diploma and experience in working with deaf children/adults. You will need a fluent command of British Sign Language to work in a bilingual working environment.

You will join a team of passionate and innovative mental health practitioners working with deaf children, young people and their families, across the Yorkshire & Humber.

This position is for 15 hours per week on a permanent basis, plus an additional 7.5 hours per week temporarily until August 2024.

Main duties of the job

You will co-work with your team members and be involved in clinical work such as initial appointments, general mental health assessments, therapy /intervention sessions, care plans and risk assessments. In addition, you will need the ability to assess language & communication, write reports, carry out interventions as well as adapt intervention resources.

You will offer support and advice to external professionals to help improve the mental health of deaf children/young people.

You will have access to relevant training, regular supervisions & team meetings to enhance your skills and development.
