Job summary

An exciting opportunity for a Band 8a psychological professional has arisen within our expanding Group Work Team.

As part of the National programme of Community Mental Health Transformation, we are aiming to significantly expand access to psychological therapy and psychologically informed care; particularly for communities who may not have been well served by traditional service models. A key element of this expansion is to provide a range of trauma informed, therapeutic, psychoeducational & skills-based groups for adults with complex emotional needs and mental health difficulties.

We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic psychologist or psychological therapist to become part of our group work team. The Successful applicant will facilitate a range of groups and help to design and implement this innovative group work programme. Previous experience of group/circle work, a good working knowledge of group process, training in structured/semi-structured group models are all highly desirable.

The post holder will be employed by Leeds & York Partnership NHS Trust (LYPFT) and will link into the professional network of Psychologists and Psychotherapists in LYPFT.

Main duties of the job

The roles will be varied but will include:

  • Triage, assessment & formulation of service users for group work.
  • Co-facilitating a range of therapeutic groups.
  • Attending relevant training.
  • Engaging in regular clinical supervision/consultation group.
  • Supervising both psychological professionals and colleagues from other professional backgrounds
  • Working in partnership with other organisations across the city.
  • Developing materials and resources
  • Project work.
  • Leading on aspects of evaluation.
  • Using multiple Electronic Patient Record Platforms.

A willingness and ability to reflect on your own experiences in relation to group processes in supervision; a commitment to managing your own emotional well-being and the ability to be adaptable is as important to us as any qualification you may hold.

This is a hybrid post working both from home and from bases in Leeds. We aim to use community assets and so face to face group work could be at multiple venues across Leeds. This is a permanent contract with 3 days dedicated to the group work programme and an additional 2 days available in the primary care therapies team if full time hours are preferred. We actively encourage flexible working pattens for work life balance wherever possible. HCPC registration as a practitioner psychologist - clinical psychologist, or counselling psychologist For CBT Therapists: 1. At least Post-Graduate Diploma in Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapy 2. Qualification in relevant core profession or through the Knowledge Skills and Attitude (KSA) portfolio route 3.
