The National Inpatient Centre for Psychological Medicine (NICPM) is looking for qualified Mental Health Nurses to build up our team of experienced Liaison Psychiatry practitioners. You will have the opportunity to develop the clinical skills required to support people with varying illnesses ranging from medically unexplained conditions, such as Functional Neurological Disorder, to comorbid physical and psychological problems. We also offer rehabilitation and treatment to those with severe and complex CFS/ME and will be looking to expand your understanding and knowledge of such conditions and how we work with them.

Main duties of the job

Key working - Coordinating the care for people with severe and complex presentations. Writing and implementing care plans to meet the wide-ranging needs of our patients. Supporting colleagues to maintain high standards of care.

Assessments - Not just assessing risk but providing more detailed and ongoing assessments of a person's biopsychosocial wellbeing and needs. In time, we will also ask you carry out pre-admission assessments on those patients on our waiting list.

Shift coordinating - Managing the day to day running of our ward environment. Supporting staff on shift and providing clinically informed handovers. Having an overall awareness of what is occurring on the ward and dealing with situations as they arise.

Administering medication alongside other treatments - Medications are just one part of the treatment we provide for patients here at NICPM. We would like you to be responsible for delivering a range of therapeutic interventions to our patients as directed by the MDT.

Working with families and carers - Help build and maintain relationships with the wider care network for our patients. Helping families to understand the journey a person has gone through in order to support their ongoing rehabilitation goals post discharge.

MDT working - You will be working alongside colleagues from various professional backgrounds. We expect you to show and understanding and appreciation of each professional groups' role in the delivery of care here at NICPM.
