Job summary
(LYPFT) is looking for Specialty Doctor Psychiatrists to join our established Acute Care Pathway Team on both ward 1 and ward 4 at the Becklin Centre and PICU at the Newsam Centre. Both are acute wards with 21/20 beds. There is an established and experienced nursing team and the postholder will be supported by 1.0 WTE Core Trainee (or equivalent) and supervised by a fulltime and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist. The postholder will be based at the Becklin Centre or at the nearby Newsam Centre for the PICU post. LYPFT has a successful Crisis Resolution Intensive Support Service (CRISS) with a 6 bedded Crisis Assessment Unit, which ensures effective gatekeeping of the inpatient beds and rapid access to acute community alternatives to inpatient care. There are no on call requirements for this post.
There are opportunities and designated support for the postholder to develop their career in Medical Leadership and management in the Acute Care Pathway alongside access to individualised support from the SAS Tutor, new SAS Advocate and SAS Committee which is active in LYPFT. LYPFT also run an educational rotational scheme for SD over the course of 36 months.
Main duties of the job
The duties are to support the MDT and Consultant in the smooth running of the ward. The day starts at 9am with the daily huddle meeting, then patient reviews and assessment of any new admissions over the previous 24 hours. The SD will attend the reviews and may hold, under supervision, a small caseload of your own. You will help to supervise the junior medics and the MDT. You will be expected and/or supported to undertake MHA work such as tribunal and managers' hearings report writing and attendance. All SDs have 2 designated SPA sessions and will be supported to obtain learning obectivs, including s12 approval and AC approval if desired.
