Job summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant Psychiatrists to work in the ADHD Service at LYPFT. This is a citywide service offering assessment and treatment of adults presenting with ADHD.

Interested applicants whose experience may be limited in this niche area will be fully supported by LYPFT to develop their skills in ADHD through CPD and via an agreed induction period at the onset of the post.

Main duties of the job

The service accepts referrals from those who present with symptoms suggestive of ADHD. The service provides diagnosis, prescribing (from initiation stable prescription) plus Occupational Therapy input. The post holder will provide both diagnostic and prescribing functions. This will be carried out with the support of the MDT. A key role for the post holder is in supervising the team including the NMP; providing training across the Trust to colleagues about ADHD, to raise awareness of this treatable condition and to offer training to enhance skills in detecting ADHD, so colleagues have a clear idea of the referral criteria to the service and the morbidity associated with untreated and unrecognised ADHD.
