Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, innovative and motivated person to join the leadership team within a new service operating across West Yorkshire. The vision for the West Yorkshire Integrated Care System is to improve the mental health and psychological wellbeing of people currently within complex locked inpatient environments and reduce the number of individuals requiring inpatient rehabilitative care and treatment as a result of specialist community-based services.

Main duties of the job

The aim of the Women's Complex Emotional Needs Team is to provide a high level of community support and intervention to women with complex needs and those with a primary presentation consistent with a personality disorder in order to avoid admission where possible, and when admission does occur, to facilitate early discharge and avoidance of an escalation in levels of security / restrictive interventions required.

The team will operate as part of a systemic model which will include:

  • A Specialist Community Team that operates extended hours over a 7 day period, with some 'out of hours' support available
  • An alternative to admission "safer place" for short term respite / residential crisis support
  • A brief assessment and formulation inpatient stay when this is indicate

Optimal care will focus on maintaining an appropriate therapeutic relationship with the individual that is empathic, compassionate, and flexible but at the same time maintains boundaries that foster independence and confidence in the individual and their ability to manage their own distress and take appropriate personal responsibility for their safety.
