Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with an interest in care and rehabilitation to support one of our senior physiotherapists who has a visual impairment. The successful applicant will support our physiotherapist to work across the Early Supported Stroke Discharge team and the inpatient stroke unit.

You will be part of a highly skilled, friendly and dynamic neurological physiotherapy team who will support you to develop your knowledge and skills relating to stroke care and rehabilitation.

Your happiness at work is important to us and we are committed to supporting your health and wellbeing. Our proud to CARE values and Leading the Chesterfield Way behaviours are firmly embedded across the Trust, whilst our focus on proudly 'being you' supports our hospital to be a great place to work.

Main duties of the job

Key roles will be to assist the visually impaired physiotherapist when assessing and providing rehabilitation to stroke patients, including those with communication difficulties. The role will also include supporting the physiotherapist to use electronic and paper resources for activities such as note writing, appointment keeping and audit compliance.

Hours will be worked to support the visually impaired physiotherapist across a 7 day service, so involvement in the weekend rota is essential. Applicants must have a valid driving licence and access to a motor vehicle as you will be required to assist the physiotherapist to visit patients in their own home.

The applicant must also be comfortable around dogs as the physiotherapist has a guide dog who accompanies them to the work environment.

Please note that successful external candidates will be required to pay for their own DBS disclosure. The cost will be deducted from the 1st salary payment. Further details of the Disclosure and Barring Service check will be confirmed upon offer of employment.
