Job summary

The Ophthalmology Department aims to provide robust, high quality failsafe systems in order to support the Diabetic Screening Service, the Age Related Macular Degeneration Service and general retinal and Glaucoma services. The above services are extremely complex and we are seeking an enthusiastic organised individual to work within an existing team to continue to support our patientswho are referred into the hospital eye services from primary care and organise timely treatments, diagnostic investigations and follow-up appointments for patients already on specialist pathways of care. This is crucial in order to optimize the individual patient's visual outcome, ensuring quality care and clinical safety. You should be educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) in English and Maths and there is an expectation for the successful candidate to complete NVQ level 3 in retinal screening unit's 1,2 & 9. Relevant certificates should be brought to interview.

Main duties of the job

You must have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and work well autonomously as well as part of a team. Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills are essential requirements of this post together with previous database management and good levels of IT knowledge. Essential

  • Educated to GCSE or equivalent. (Minimum C grade English)
  • NVQ Level 3 in Retinal Screening unit's 1,2 & 9 or willing to work towards (must complete within 2 years of starting post)
  • Microsoft office based computer packages with an awareness of email & internet.

Desirable

  • Experience using the IP Optomise system
  • Any office based training such as NVQ

  • Relevant administrative ophthalmic experience
