Job summary

We are looking to appoint a Consultant Dermatologist to further develop our highly rated services at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity, and it is anticipated that there will be occasion for the appointee to develop a sub-specialty interest within the role.

Applicants will be expected to have completed broad based general medical training along with specific training in Dermatology and to have gained a CCT in Dermatology or be within six months of obtaining this.

The post will suit individuals with the desire and resolve to provide modern, high-quality care. We will also consider flexible working options, subject to the exigencies of the service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in conjunction with other members of the multi-disciplinary team providing a comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic service, share clinical responsibility for cases with consultant colleagues.

Ensuring service delivery across the wider team you will empower and assist others to deliver optimum services, maintain accurate and timely clinical record keeping and undertake effective liaison with regional colleagues to ensure delivery of patient care delivered on a tertiary basis.

You will play an active part in the training and supervision of medical staff in junior and non-training grades and the development of support staff, supporting and leading the delivery of education for trainee medical staff and medical students, along with participating effectively in Clinical Audit and Clinical Governance.

It is home to the Crooked Spire and is also close to Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham, thus offering numerous choices for recreational activities and lifestyles.

Chesterfield Royal Hospital was officially opened by the queen in 1985 and since then it has continued to expand and modernise, currently holding approximately 550 beds. We provide acute in-patient and out-patient care for Chesterfield and the surrounding rural area of North Derbyshire, serving a population of approximately 350,000 people.

We are currently rated GOOD by the CQC.
