Job summary
This is a full-time appointment for a Consultant in Ophthalmology to support delivery of services within our modern and well-equipped Eye Centre. This is a replacement post in an established, friendly and well-equipped Department.
We are seeking a General Ophthalmologist and can discuss how a variety of sub-specialist interests may align with Department service delivery. Experience in Glaucoma and particularly surgical glaucoma management would be of interest for this post but not mandatory. Ability to do ROP screening and some paediatric experience would again be of interest although not mandatory.
We are looking for an individual who will make a positive contribution to our wider team and to the development of our expanding services.

Essential
- FRCOphth or relevant/equivalent qualification
- Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise and entry on GMC specialist Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview.
- Completion of training to a level commensurate with the award of CCST/HPT
Desirable
- Completion of a fellowship or other qualification in an ophthalmic sub-specialty or special interest.
Experience
Essential
- Clinical training and experience in Ophthalmology broadly equivalent to that required to gain UK CCST in Ophthalmology.
- Able to work independently at a senior level, taking responsibility for clinical care of patients.
- Experience of senior/consultant level on call in an acute general hospital Ophthalmology Department sufficient to safely function upon the Consultant on call rota
