Job summary
Due to internal development within therapy services an exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor (TI) to join our inpatient team.
As a technical instructor you will be assessing and treating patients in a range of daily activities to encourage functional independence in preparation for their discharge from hospital.
You will be working under the guidance of an established and supportive team of qualified Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and other therapy support staff within the services.
The OT and PT team practice shared skills and you will be supported to achieve selective competencies within physiotherapy to enhance the service for our patients.
You will be supported to to develop the skills to work independently, to provide delivery of care including liaison with patients, family members, carers, the multi-disciplinary team and external agencies following a discharge to assess (D2A) model.
Basic IT skills are required, as the service operates with electronic patient records.
There is a commitment to support 7-day services in the medical division, so flexibility to work weekends on a rota system will be required.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking applicants who have had experience working in a therapy environment, and have an understanding of the physical, cognitive and emotional needs of patients experiencing an acute admission and the effect this may have on their discharge.
We welcome applications from those who possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrate flexibility and initiative and are able to prioritise their workload in a busy environment.
You will also demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and an aptitude for team working. We are seeking someone who can demonstrate the trusts PROUD to CARE values.
Flexibility to help cover other wards will be required, in line with service needs.
