Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Specialty Medicine Care Unit for a part time Health Care Assistant within the Rheumatology Department. The post holder will assist senior staff with the provision of individualised nursing care for both speciality and general medicine patients. You will support the team in the achievement of medical outpatient objectives and provide support to senior staff in providing patients with a better quality of outpatient life.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist the qualified nursing staff with the provision of individualised care and provide support to relatives and carers. There will be some administrative duties such as ensuring patients have the correct clinic appointments.

Duties may include preparation of the clinic to receive patients, co-ordination of patient flow through the clinics, acting as a chaperone, assisting the medical and specialist nursing team in their clinics and working alongside the nurses on the day case unit which is open on a Thursday.

  • oEducation to GCSE standard (or equivalent), to include Maths & English oQCF level 2 Clinical Healthcare Support or willing to work towards and complete within 12 months Care Certificate (or willing to work towards)

Desirable

  • oHealth Related Training, First Aid, Moving & Handling, Food Handling. NVQ care qualification

Experience

  • oUnderstands the need for confidentiality Understands & committed to a caring approach to patients, relatives/carers

  • oExperience in an NHS/health care setting. Experience working in an outpatient setting
