Job summary

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist on a substantive basis as part of our comprehensive CAMHS Service in North Derbyshire.

Based in the Buxton, the team covering the High Peak and Dales. This area is a mix of towns and villages and so has a varied population including farmers and other rural workers as well as commuters.

The team comprises of a team lead, psychologist, mental health practitioners and an ANP, as well regular input from CBT therapists and the family therapist for the service. Additionally, there is DBT available at the Buxton base from the DBT team

The Buxton base is easily commutable from both Sheffield, Chesterfield and Manchester.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) provides specialist mental health services to a population of approximately 77,000 children. The service has 2 generic tier 3 teams, a Community Advisors Team, an Urgent Care Team, an Eating Disorders Team, an Intensive Home Treatment Team, DBT team and an LD CAMHS team.

There are 6 consultant psychiatrists and 2 Specialty Doctors across the service. They function as a strong supportive group. There is good support from a growing team of advanced nurse prescribers.

The successful Candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills and have a flexible approach. You will be a team player who enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary setting with highly experienced and skilled staff while being capable of providing clinical leadership for the team.

There are excellent schools in the local area, only a few minutes from the hospital, as well as nursery childcare on-site.

  • MRCPych or equivalent qualification
  • CCT in child and adolescent psychiatry
  • S12 Approval
  • Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise or within 6 months of date of interview

  • Good knowledge of child and adolescent psychiatry and wide medical knowledge

Desirable
