MEDICINE AND EMERGENCY CARE DIVISION,
LEAD DIABETES CLINICAL NURSE SPECIALIST
Full time: 37.5 hours per week
SALARY RANGE: £45,753 £51,668 per annum
(Band 8a)
We are looking for a high skilled, motivated, enthusiastic and a compassionate leader to join the team. The post holder will provide enhanced management skills to lead the team. They will provide support for senior nursing staff in relation to staff development, complaints and lead and guide both nursing and medical staff in the appropriate and timely care of patients.
The highly qualified post holder will be able to act as a resource providing advice, support and guidance to all members of the healthcare team both within the directorate and Trust wide. The post holder will be an agent for change, monitoring and evaluating practices
Main duties of the job
The Diabetes department at the Chesterfield Royal Hospital is a transformational clinic setting that cares for both Outpatients and Inpatients. You will be a great team player who is willing to work collaboratively with the existing team to deliver the best care possible for our patients. The department currently provides the following services:
- An inpatient service between 09:00 17:00 five days per week
- Telephone and follow up clinics for outpatients
- DSN Clinics
- Young Adult Clinic (YAC)
- Complex clinics
- Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) clinics
- Freestyle Libre (FSL) service
- Dexcom CGM clinics
- Insulin Pump clinics
- Diabetes clinics (Cons / SpR led) Nurse cover
- Antenatal
- Foot clinic

- 1st level RGN
- Non-medical nurse prescriber qualification (or willing to work towards)
- Leadership qualification
- Advance communication course/qualification - ENB 998 or equivalent
- Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to area of expertise
Experience

- Significant experience, (within the last 6 years) of working at a senior level within diabetes care Band 7 or above.
- Proven managerial skills at a senior level within a diabetes environment.
- Evidence of personal achievement at work.

- Previous experience of working as a CNS
