Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a secondment Band 6 senior respiratory rotational Physiotherapist until 31/3/2027. The role will comprise of 6 month rotations including surgery, respiratory medicine, critical care and breathing space, including pulmonary rehabilitation. There would be an expectation of weekend working with the hospital site with a one in three shift pattern covering critical care and ward based respiratory patients, with on call also undertaken. Applicants must have completed or be undertaking a respiratory rotation to ensure they have the necessary skills and can join the team in a position to handle a full caseload. Supervision of band 5 Therapists on rotation and students on placement will be an integral part of the role. Deputising for the band 7 where appropriate is integral to the role and assisting them with ongoing service development.
Main duties of the job
To provide physiotherapy for patients in hospital and as part of the Breathing Space service. To organise and plan own caseload to meet service and patient priorities readjusting plans as situations change & arise, in consultation with a more Senior Therapist where appropriate. To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients, using a range of recognised and specialised clinical assessment techniques including the interpretation of investigations and their results and modify intervention as appropriate. To determine a diagnosis and prognosis through the application of clinical reasoning skills and the knowledge of physiological and pathological processes and syndromes. To formulate an evidence based treatment plan taking into account the treatment techniques and options available. To provide specialist advice and assistance to Physiotherapists, medical and nursing staff and other members of the multi-disciplinary team regarding patients management. To be responsible for equipment used whilst carrying out Physiotherapy duties, adhere to departmental policies and ensure the safe use of equipment. To supervise, providing guidance and support where required to junior physio staff and students, delegating work appropriately. To be an active member of the respiratory out of hours on call rota, including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays. To provide specialist training of staff for the on call service we provide.
