We are looking for a passionate band 6 neonatal nurse to join this excellent supporting and caring team which strives to deliver specialist neonatal care. The unit is a Local Neonatal Unit with 14 cots including 2 intensive care and 2 high dependency level cots. The unit is part of the Yorkshire and Humber neonatal ODN. We offer a supportive environment in which to develop your skills as a Neonatal nurse and enhance your leadership and management development.
Candidates must be qualified in speciality for neonatal critical care.
The post holder will need to have excellent organisational and communication skills and have proven experience in neonatal intensive, high dependency and special care.
As a senior nurse you will be supporting junior staff to develop their skills in clinical practice. You will be expected to be a role model, demonstrating strong leadership and decision making skills.
You will be expected to contribute to service development and be committed to improving practice.
This post is an ideal opportunity for an experienced band 5 nurse who is qualified in speciality and ready to develop clinical, leadership and management skills.
Main duties of the job
As an experienced neonatal nurse you will be expected to plan and deliver safe effective care to babies and their families in the neonatal unit and you should have a detailed understanding of the principles of family integrated care.
As a band 6 nurse you will be expected to support junior staff to develop high dependency and intensive care skills as part of their QIS programme. You will also be responsible for supervising and assessing students on clinical placements and providing support to newly qualified nurses undergoing their preceptorship programme.
As a band 6 nurse you will be expected to co-ordinate the shift on a regular basis, escalating any concerns or changes accurately and in a timely manner to the leadership team.
You will be expected to contribute to and lead on service developments, quality improvements and changes in practice in response to national guidance, incident investigations and evidence based practice.
You will be responsible for the delivery of high standards of effective patient care, ensuring individual programmes of care are assessed, planned, implemented and evaluated.
You will promote and maintain effective communication systems and ensure effective liaison with other agencies as appropriate.
As a senior nurse you will act as a professional role model, through commitment to the integration into practice of Trust policies and procedures and to ensure that all nursing and midwifery practice is in accordance with NMC Code of Conduct
