Job summary
We are seeking an exceptional, highly motivated Matron to join our leadership team for a 12-month fixed-term period. This unique portfolio covers our state-of-the-art Urgent & Emergency Care Centre (UECC), our rapidly evolving Medical Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit, and our specialist Alcohol Team.
This pivotal role is ideal for a leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about streamlining patient pathways while maintaining the highest standards of clinical safety and compassion. You will provide strategic and operational leadership across these services, ensuring seamless patient flow, safe clinical practice, and excellent patient experience. This is a rare opportunity to shape services at the forefront of urgent and emergency care, influence service development, and make a real difference to patients and staff alike
Main duties of the job
- Lead, support, and develop the ED nursing team, promoting a professional and positive culture.
- Oversee patient care, flow, and safety, ensuring timely, effective, and compassionate treatment.
- Uphold clinical standards, policies, and quality initiatives, including incident management and audits.
- Drive staff education, mentorship, and continuous professional development.
- Manage departmental resources, staffing, and budgets efficiently.
- Ensure excellent patient, family, and carer experience, promoting dignity and respect.
- Contribute to service planning, development, and Trust-wide initiatives.
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse with relevant post-registration experience.
- Leadership and management experience within acute or emergency care.
- Strong clinical expertise and commitment to high-quality patient care.
