Job summary
As a Rota Co-ordinator within the centralised Rota Team you will join the Medical and Dental Workforce department, which also covers Medical & Dental HR, Medical & Dental Recruitment, Appraisal & Revalidation, and Job Planning. Our centralised Rota Team is responsible for the management of medical rotas across key specialties, including General Surgery, Urology, Integrated Medicine, and Emergency Medicine. This role is central to maintaining safe staffing levels and supporting high-quality Patient care through the effective co-ordination of medical rotas in respect of all grades of Doctor. A solid understanding of medical contracts and terms and conditions is essential to ensure rotas align with contractual entitlements and meet service needs. Main duties of the job
This role demands a proactive, focused individual who understands the impact of effective planning on clinical safety and service delivery. You will need to be confident working with data, able to prioritise under pressure, and have an understanding and capability to interpret medical contracts including resident Doctor T&Cs and specialty-specific arrangements. You will be the central point of contact for rota-related queries, often working with minimal supervision, and therefore sound judgement, initiative and problem-solving skills are essential. Your ability to communicate effectively with Clinicians, Managers, agencies and colleagues will make you a trusted and reliable member of the team. Whether its reacting to short-notice gaps, monitoring WTD compliance, or supporting performance targets, no two days are the same.
