Main duties of the job
- Provide visible, compassionate, and professional leadership to the ward team
- Drive quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical standards
- Manage staffing, budgets, and workforce development
- Support service delivery targets and operational performance
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive team culture
- Work closely with consultants, AHPs, and the wider MDT to ensure seamless patient pathways
The practitioner should be an expert in the assessment, planning, and implementation of all areas of nursing care from patients admission to transfer/discharge, which facilitates clinical practice development.
Proactively manage the unit with support from the Band 6 Deputy Ward managers. Ensuring the efficient and effective running of the ward / unit / service.
Lead the management of staff appraisals, staff rotas, the recruitment and selection process and the supervision of learners.
Provide daily clinical and managerial leadership by being a role model to nursing and support staff in the delivery of evidence based patient centred care, which is of a high standard.
Responsible for ensuring all care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures maintaining associated records. Utilising clinical audit, research, supervision of practice and teaching, they will monitor and improve standards of care by efficient and effective use of resources. Work were possible on a supernumerary basis.
