Are you an enthusiastic Cardiology Nurse looking for progression and a new challenge in a band 6 role? If so, an exciting opportunity has opened up on the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at Rotherham NHS foundation Trust.

The CCU team is dynamic and friendly and are keen to help and support and develop nurses interested in experiencing this exciting role. We are seeking nurses who are compassionate, bright and motivated to deliver the best care to our acute and complex group of patients.

The successful applicants will be expected to have up to date and demonstrable Cardiology experience post registration. An understanding of NICE guidance, protocol based practice and evidence of leadership qualities is essential.

We are an 8 bedded unit caring for a wide variety of acutely ill patients from Acute Coronary Syndromes, Heart Failure, Cardiac Arrhythmias and Patients requiring CPAP.

We are also involved in dobutamine stress echos, trans-oesophageal echocardiograms and DC cardioversion. We also have the facility to monitor 10 telemetry beds on adjoining wards. A friendly cardiology team consisting of consultants, sonographers, heart failure and cardiac rehabilitation specialist nurses and an arrhythmia nurse closely supports us.

We encourage staff development and training. Support for the successful applicant will be provided. Both full and part-time hours will be considered. We have recently started utilising team rostering to help with staff wellbeing

Main duties of the job

-Maintain high standards of clinical work when carrying out nursing procedures, and act as a role model for junior colleagues.

- Ensure high standards of care are delivered to all patients, whilst maintaining the Units already established high standards.

- Lead the ward team in the absence of other senior members of staff.

-Ensure compliance with our clinical governance framework

- Champion service user safety and dignity.

- Be involved, and proactive in the development of new quality improvements.

- Assist with cardioversions, and pre-assessments, dobutamine stress echo's trans-oesophageal echocardiograms, and also be trained in nurse lead perfusion scans.

- Liaise with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure patients are receiving the appropriate and timely care.
