An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our Endoscopy team as a booking clerk.
The post holder must be able to prioritise their workload in order to maximise the effective and efficient booking of Endoscopy procedure lists in line with local and national policies.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a high level of organisational and communication skills, with the ability to liaise directly with patients, taking action according to their needs. It is essential that the post-holder has well developed administration skills and a dynamic and flexible approach to working in a pressured environment in order to deliver the needs of the service and its patients.
Main duties of the job
1. To establish, implement and monitor a range of administrative processes and systems to support the patients attendance to Endoscopy by allocating dates and data entry.
2. To actively monitor and ensure validation of waiting lists on both local EPR system and bespoke spreadsheet. Ensuring that patients are seen in chronological order and within specified local and national target waiting times and local waiting list policies.
3. Communicate appointment and admission related information to patients and carers which may include District Nurses and Social Workers. Maintaining patient confidentiality.
4. To assist in creating an environment which is patient focussed, and maintains their dignity and privacy.
5. Receive and action enquiries, verbal and written, promptly and efficiently from a wide range of people, including, consultant medical staff, senior managers, peer colleagues, patients and colleagues from external organisations, using judgement and analysis to resolve any problems within the parameters of the role, referring complex queries to line manager, as appropriate.
6. To plan patients onto lists for consultants/medical staff in line with the agreed booking rules, with minimal intervention from nursing and medical staff, ensuring operating list/session capacity is maximised, taking into account and analysing, waiting times and individual patient requirement.
