Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for Radiographers to develop their skills and move into the next stage of their career.We are looking for a dedicated, experienced and skilled Radiographer to work within our X-ray team.The successful candidate will work independently, ensuring high quality images are produced with the minimum radiation dose to patients and staff whilst maintaining high levels of patient care.A good understanding of radiation protection legislation and protocols/processes to provide the highest levels of care.Candidates will be expected to demonstrate key leadership qualities and will be capable of supervising and supporting a team of Radiographers, student Radiographers, assistant practitioners and Radiography apprentices as required. They will offer advice and supervision to all members of the team.Participation in the shift rota is essential.Successful applicants will be asked at interview to rank the following roles in order of interest:

  • Community X-ray Lead
  • Paediatric Lead
  • Student Liaison Lead
The expectation will be that all successful candidates will train in Cardiology Cath Lab as deemed appropriate by the Clinical Lead & Deputy Clinical Lead.

Main duties of the job

  • First line supervision of Radiographic work within the main X-ray department
  • Train Band 5 staff and students in imaging and interpretation
  • To lead, supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the department.
  • To support the management team and lead by example.
  • Train to work in Cardiology Cath Lab alongside leadership responsibilities, as deemed appropriate by the Clinical Lead/Deputy.
  • Involved in audit, research and presentations.
  • Ensure that the radiation safety measures, as written in local rules, is maintained at all times.
  • Report any incidents appropriately.
  • To participate in CPD.
  • RPS trained as deemed appropriate by Clinical Lead/Deputy.
