An exciting opportunity has arisen for an energetic individual to join Ward B5 as a Ward Housekeeper. The post holder will be expected to work 5 days per week 37.5 hours in total.
Ward B5 is a 33 bed, Health Care Of the Older People ward.The successful individual will need to be able to work with the Ward leadership team to ensure that all facilities on the ward are conducive to a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
We are looking for an individual who has a flexible approach to their working day and someone who has a focus of supporting the clinical staff to assist in a smooth and efficient service for our patients.
Candidates should be energetic and forward thinking. Must have excellent communication skills and be self-motivated.
Main duties of the job
Environmental Cleanliness & Infection Control
Maintain cleanliness of the ward, including patient areas, day rooms, kitchens, and storage areas
Ensure cleaning schedules are followed and documented
Follow infection prevention and control policies at all times
Report any issues related to cleanliness, waste, or safety promptly
Patient Support
Support patients with meals, including setting up trays and offering assistance where appropriate
Ensure patients have access to drinks and snacks, encouraging hydration
Maintain a calm, respectful, and compassionate approach, particularly when working with older people who may have dementia or mobility difficulties
Ward & Stock Management
Monitor and restock ward supplies such as linen, toiletries, and cleaning materials
Maintain tidiness of equipment and storage areas
Report shortages or faulty equipment to the appropriate staff
Health, Safety & Safeguarding
-Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures
Use equipment safely and correctly
Raise concerns regarding patient safety, dignity, or wellbeing in line with safeguarding procedures
Team Working & Communication
Work collaboratively with nursing staff, domestics, catering, and other ward staff
Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and colleagues
Maintain confidentiality and professional standards at all times
